Picture
The original photograph was taken in Brick Bank Lane, Goostrey.  My original idea was to create an abstract version using the bright oranges silhouetted by the trees.  I started with a black canvas and my idea was to paint the negative spaces.  This all started out fine until I realised my error of painting yellow over black, it had been a long week and I just wasn't thinking straight. Frustrated with this mess up, I chose to step away from the canvas and mull over my options whilst doing something else.

The next day was not much better as we were still deep into lockdown and we hadn't left the house for two months, the days were just merging into each other but I wanted to finish this canvas so I forced myself to get stuck in. This style evolved and the more I sectioned off the areas, the more I liked the result, the trees were going to be more subtle but I felt that the painting had so much of my feelings incorporated, the trees closing in on the figure was very apt.
